Hat trick for Leo Messi

Once again Leo Messi played an important role in Barça's victory. The Argentinians assisted all three of Blaugranes' goals against Betis in a 3-2 victory. Just minutes after Betis took the lead, Messi provided an accurate pass for De Jong to increase the score to 1-1. With Betis taking the lead once again, Barça No. 10 took a free kick right after half the time for Sergio Busquets to make it 2-2. Then, in the second half, another Messi free-kick allowed Lenglet to go home, who would be the winner at Benito Villamarín.

The fourth time in a career
A supportive hat-trick is not common but against Betis, Leo Messi has done it for the fourth time in his career. His first trio met Levante in the Copa del Rey in 2014 and the next time Barça arrived in the 2016 tournament with Getafe. In the middle, he recorded the feat for Argentina at Copa America 2015 in a 6-1 victory over Paraguay. In La Liga, only two other players provided three assists in a match: Pablo Sarabia for Sevilla and Leo Messi's teammate, Luis Suárez in no less than three times.

This season in Europe's top league, Messi has set a record of doubling goals (14) and assists (11). The only other players on par with the record so far in 2019/20 are Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho (12 goals and 13 assists).
