Barça B 3-2 Llagostera: License to dream

Barça B get better and better. The reserves took another three points at the Estadi Johan Cruyff, this time by beating Llagostera 3-2. The dominant display consolidates their position in the play-off zone, now in second place, with the same 49 points as Sabadell and Cornellà, and just one less than leaders Castellón, who lost this weekend.
Monchu got the reserves off to the perfect start with a goals after just two minutes, Akieme crossing and the captain and top scorer heading home.
Collado, Riqui Puig, Gerard, Chumi and Guillem Jaime all excelled as Barça B pushed hard for a second but let Llagostera off the hook, and such generosity could have cost them dear when first Sergio Cortés from the penalty spot and then Magallán with a finely placed strike turned things around in favour a visiting side that had barely threatened in the first 45 minutes.
Surely Barça B couldn’t let a game like this slip when they had been playing so well? Their heads refused to drop and instead they attacked the game in search of a solution. And it came when Cuenca headed in from a corner with just eight minutes left, and it came again just five minutes later when Ilaix thumped home a first-touch blast off a Chumi cross to re-establish the lead.
The euphoria at the end of the game was fully justified – promotion is looking more and more on the cards for this teams that’s improving with every week.
Next up comes a biggie, a trip to the Nova Creu Alta, home of Sabadell, between two teams that are level pegging going into the business end of the season.
